A Year With Jesus by R.P. Nettelhorst Book Review

I've said it before, and I'm going to say it again; devotionals are one of my favorite types of books in the whole wide world!  So when I got the chance to receive and review this new devotional by R.P. Nettelhorst titled, "A Year With Jesus", I was stoked!  It's a 365-day devotional which I also love since that way I get a bite sized surge of encouragement every single day!
Here's an excerpt from Amazon about the book -

"A 365-day devotional featuring the actual spoken words of Jesus as presented in the Bible.
Too many times the impact and grandness of the actual words Jesus spoke, as recorded in the Bible, are lost in the telling of the story. In A Year with Jesus, the primary focus is to allow the scriptures that contain Jesus' dialogue to uniquely speak to the reader. The author follows each reading with insights and applications to help explain the context and nuances of the text. The unique titling of each meditation and the nontraditional themes and organization help bring Jesus to our daily lives. Topics include:
  • Love and Hate
  • Truths and Lies
  • Arrogance and Humility
  • Friends and Enemies
  • Belief and Disbelief
  • Patience and Impatience
  • Deserved and Undeserved
  • Good and Evil
  • Fidelity and Treachery
  • Life and Death"
The back cover reads, "The Greatest Person Who Ever Lived Wants to Spend Time With You.  There's no one like Jesus in all of history.  He touched hearts and changed lives everywhere he went in his thirty-three years on earth.  Each person who spent time with him was never the same.

Jesus' words and actions, which have spanned the centuries, are just as relevant and important for you today.  When you spend time with Jesus, you'll soon discover that what matters to him most of all is you.

A Year With Jesus is an unforgettable 365-day revelation of Jesus' love through his actual words, plus reflections and insights to encourage and inspire you.  Let his words comfort you and fill your heart and life.  As you connect more deeply with the Greatest Person Who ever lived - this Person Who knows you and cares about every detail of your life - you'll find yourself living and loving with greater peace, promise, and purpose."

WOW.  Just WOW.  Jesus' words are where it's at, and what it's all about so naturally I'm drawn to books that center on His words, and this book nails it!

I la la LOVE this devotional, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking to grow in their relationship and daily walk with Jesus.  A very powerful and resourceful book!

The Love & Respect Experience by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs Book Review

My Review/Thoughts

I a devotional fanatic! I love them and read multiple everyday! I think it has to do with how short but to the point they are. They pack a mean spiritual punch to your gut and heart every morning. Since I'm a girl, most of mine are women related; I know, surprise surprise right? But I'm branching out! When I got the opportunity to review "The Love & Respect Experience" by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs I jumped at the chance! It states right on the cover, "A Husband Friendly Devotional that Wives Truly Love", and I'm telling you it's nothing but the truth! I LOVE this devotional!

The chapters are short and sweet but full of substance to help couples grow together in their walk with Christ and each other. The exercises are all very doable and practical for a modern couple. Seriously, whether you are newly married or a veteran couple pick up this devotional, it will shed new light on the time you spend with the Lord together!

Here's an excerpt from Amazon:
"Through the millions of products sold on Love & Respect, Emerson Eggerichs has transformed marriages around the world with his biblically based approach to understanding the love that she most desires and the respect that he desperately needs. Now, in this long-awaited release, Emerson has created an experience for couples that is effective, flexible and life-changing.

To build this couples devotional, Eggerichs has taken the top concerns that surfaced in a survey of thousands of couples and has developed 52 devotionals around the three cycles that are at the heart of Love and Respect. On one occasion the couple will be talking about how to stop the Crazy Cycle or keep it at bay. The very next devotional will talk about a concept built upon the Rewarded Cycle, which stresses the ultimate purpose for marriage. And the next may have both people talking about ways to use the Energizing Cycle in their efforts to love and respect each other.

Some may ask, "Why 52 and not 365, like other couples devotionals I have seen?" The author's research shows that married couples don't want to deal with that much material, that often.  Therefore, the specific devotionals, which can be done weekly or at any chosen pace, are specifically guided to what couples say they most need.  And this is a husband-friendly devotional, having been written and designed in such a way that the husband can feel comfortable in the entire process.

With this wealth of new material and video devotionals available online to support the product, The Love & Respect Experience will be indispensable to anyone wishing to better their marital relationship."

Conclusion
I give this book 5 stars! I think it's such a great tool for couples in the walk and growth with each other and the Lord!
